The 'process' has many parts. What I love most are the ideas the client will have. Sometimes it is a vague idea and then they will let me roll. Others, they are very hands on with specifics. And then there is their 'maybe this could work' idea and we chat and chat and I dig into the imagination they never knew they had. It is so exhilarating to bring that to life for them. That also makes their piece more personal. I still get carte blanc and the trust that is put into my brushes gives me energy.
Now the prepping of the canvas.I will say starting this process is my least favorite part. I do put time and care into your piece from start to finish but this takes no creativity and color and that is what feeds me.
I begin with heavy weight canvas and stretch until there is no give. I often need another pair or two of hands as some of the pieces are so large. Once stapled taut I layer three coats of primer and a coats of water based zeroVOC acrylic paint. Flip, stretch and repeat for a total of 6 layers before the design is sketched on. Layers of acrylic colors and brushes then decipher the imagination. A 2-3 inch hem is mitered and heat sealed. Water based Polycrylic is applied a minimum of 3 times to ensure your piece lasts for years and years. Every product used dries 100% safe for pets.
Once cured your piece will be rolled ,wrapped and boxed for complete protection on its journey to you. Care instructions are included.
Griding out the checks and laying out very specific furniture placement for this 10' x 10'.
This was a gift for my husband. He spends most of his days in his office working (though I think he's on YouTube looking for bigfoot), so I thought it only be right to have his family's story... right there at his feet! Running brought us together in the first place. Sydney wanted his favorite running shoes and mine. Boy did she regret that! Every item is painted to every last little detail! Oy it looks like they are really there... as my toddler tries to pick things up! Sydney was a pleasure to work with. I'm sure there are thousand of messages between us. We worked together on specific placement, so everything can be seen and loved! Thank you Sydney for doing this piece for us. It truly is the story of us and will be cherished for years to come!

I love this floorcloth! It's so amazing and so realistic that I keep trying to pick up the trompe l'oeil pen! Sydney is extraordinarily talented and I love working surrounded by renditions of special family things! My children's favorite childhood books were replicated in perfect detail, worn covers and all!

Sydney was an angel and I received the adorable half artichoke floorcloth sooner than I could have imagined. It's beautiful, quirky and fun and I, like many others, wish I had a house full of Sydney's beautiful creations. Thank you for everything, Sydney.

Sydney did a beautiful job on this elaborate piece. The floor cloth makes my "Wizard of Oz" themed playroom! She was very easy to get in touch with and always responded quickly to any questions or concerns. It was a pleasure working with Sydney and I highly recommend her work. She is extremely talented and truly enjoys creating these gorgeous pieces which is evident after having her create this piece for my son's playroom. She became a friend over this process, and I can not thank her enough for her time, hard work, and kindness.
